The teachers at Dialogskolan have for a time period been interested and involved in improving basic skills such as reading and writing within a specific developing project about the literacy approach called R2L, Reading to learn. The aim of Reading to Learn is to support every student in the classroom to read and write challenging texts at their grade level. Through carefully designed guidance, all students are continually engaged and successful at each step of the R2L teaching strategies. Using R2L as a method in the Erasmus + project enables a process of action learning, which means professional development with data collection in the same way as action research is carried out. Dialogskolan has access to the external expertise, Ann-Christin Lövstedt throughout the whole project period. She is an experienced secondary school leader and language teacher with a specialisation in multicultural education and teaching Swedish as a Second Language. She has produced curriculum materials for language education and worked at teacher training institutions at Mälardalen University and Uppsala University. She is currently focusing on the development of Genre-based pedagogies across the curriculum in schools in Sweden. Ann-Christin has also led and administrated International European projects. As the coordinator school Dialogskolan can set the framework for trying different literacy approaches in the different partner countries.
